A living document of the hardware I use. Updated as things change.
Mobile Devices
Phone
My current phone is an iPhone 16 Pro. I got this on launch to replace my four year old iPhone 12 Pro. I buy the small Pro iPhone every few years. I love and rely on iOS and prefer smaller phones, so I only really have one options when it comes time to upgrade every 3-5 years. Overall it is a great phone, although I use it less than ever, more on that at a later date.
Tablet
My current tablet is a 13" iPad Pro (M4). I moved from an 11" iPad Pro to a 13" earlier this year and it was so worth it, I have a lot to share about this transition, so I will also save that for a later date - watch this space.
eReader
My current eReader is a Kobo Clara BW. I moved to this from a Kindle Oasis 2 in April 2025. I have a lot to share about this transition, so I will also save that for a later date - watch this space.
Watch
My current watch is an Apple Watch Series 10. I also have a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch, which I wear to the office and for formal occasions.
Headphone
My headphones are a pair of Apple AirPods Pro 3. I think this is my fifth pair of AirPods - 1, Pro, Pro 2, Pro 2 and Pro 3. I have only lost 1 pair; the rest died, due to internal component deterioration and battery life degradation.
Desktop
Computer
My current computer is Mac Mini (Late 2018). I moved to this from a 2011 MacBook Air in 2019. The last three years that I used the MacBook Air, I left it docked into my Apple Thunderbolt Display as the battery and hardware was struggling as it was too much faff to undock it. The performance was really struggling so I had to upgrade - I wanted a MacBook Pro, but the prices were prohibitively high, so I picked an option that was the best bang for the buck and I settled for a Certified Refurbished Intel Mac Mini. I have used it for the last six years and it has been absolutely solid. Halfway through its life I upgraded from 8 to 64GB of memory and it still has stellar performance today. The only drawback of it is that I cannot install Tahoe on it, so I am on borrowed time and I will need to upgrade it soon.
Displays
I use 3 x 27" 1440p generic Dell displays. They are nice big canvasses for me to work on with sufficiently high enough resolutions. I use multiple inputs on them for my Mac Mini and my work latop. I’d like 3 x 2880p 27" screen, but they are prohibitively expensive!
Mouse
I use a Logitech MX Master 3. I like it - it is a nice ergonomic mouse with vertical and horizontal scroll wheels, momentum scrolling, multi device support and some nice buttons around the thumb area.
Keyboard
I use a Keychron K10 Pro. I was aware of mechanical keyboards for years, but didn’t understand the fuss as I had always been happy with the chicklet style Apple keyboards. I picked this as it was primarily cheap, available in a UK layout with a 100% layout. It is fantastic, but I find the battery a bit small and it needs regularly charging. I love the feel of the brown keys though, when I use a keyboard at a hot desk now, it feels terrible, like typing on a marshmallow.
Speakers
I use some stereo Logitech speakers.
Homelab
Server
My home server is a GMKtec NucBox M6 Mini PC. I use it to host many services, including:
- Plex
- ChannelsDVR
- FreshRSS
- any many other services.
I have a lot to share about this, so watch this space. I use an Orico 3.5-Inch External Hard Drive Enclosure as storage for my server, I just have a select of old drives I have procured over the years in it.
Gaming
Console
I have a Nintendo Switch 2, which I play infrequently.
